Contributing to Intersect: A Call to Action
The Time to Shape Cardano is Now
Most developers want to contribute to open source — but the friction of getting started often holds them back.
Intersect is not just a collection of repositories; it is the engine room of the Cardano ecosystem. This is where the future of the network is architected, debated, resolved, and built. If you want to shape Cardano—not just build on it, but actively steer its direction—this is exactly where you need to be.
We need your voice, your code, your perspective, and your time. Every small action compounds. A 5-minute docs fix today could save 100 developers an hour of debugging tomorrow.
🛤️ How Can You Contribute? (All Pathways)
There are multiple entry points depending on your strengths. You do not have to write a single line of code to make a massive impact.
📝 Documentation & Tutorials (The Best Starting Point)
Good documentation scales indefinitely. Fixing a typo or writing a guide is one of the most powerful and accessible ways to start.
- Maintain Intersect Repos: Help maintain the documentation on the repositories we manage (like this very Developer Experience repo!).
- Cardano Developer Portal: Help keep the ecosystem's central hub up to date with the latest tutorials and concepts. You can contribute directly to the content on the Cardano Developer Portal.
💻 Code & Infrastructure
If you are a builder, there are complex problems waiting for you:
- Fix bugs, optimize infrastructure, and build out new ecosystem features.
- Submit Pull Requests to core Intersect repositories like Cardano Node, DB Sync, and Plutus.
🤝 Developer Support
Help scale the community's knowledge base:
- Answer questions in Discord, Telegram, and Stack Exchange.
- Debug issues with others, review community PRs, and share your technical insights.
🌍 Community & Governance
Shape the culture and the rules of the network:
- Participate in technical discussions, hackathons, and Working Groups.
- Host local meetups, write CIPs (Cardano Improvement Proposals), and provide valuable, constructive feedback.
Where Do You Fit In? Choose Your Committee.
You don't need to be an expert in everything. You don't need a decade of Haskell experience. You just need to show up and contribute where you are strongest.
Intersect is organized into Committees, each of which hosts numerous Working Groups (WGs) that you can jump right into. Pick the domain that excites you the most:
💻 Open Source Committee (OSC)
Focused on developer experience, ecosystem tooling, and open-source standards. Jump into specialized WGs here to shape developer tools, smart contract auditing, and AI policies.
⚙️ Technical Steering Committee (TSC)
Driving the foundational architecture of Cardano. If you want to get your hands dirty with the core tech, this committee hosts deep-dive WGs on Consensus, DB Sync, Layer 2s, and Network Evolution.
🏛 Civics Committee
Passionate about how Cardano is governed? The Civics Committee explores the social and political mechanics of the network, ensuring robust, decentralized decision-making.
💰 Budget Committee
Cardano has a massive decentralized treasury. This committee and its associated WGs focus on treasury management tooling, budget approvals, and the financial health of the ecosystem.
🌐 Membership & Community Committee (MCC)
Dedicated to growing Intersect membership, supporting international hubs, and facilitating communication across the ecosystem. Perfect if you want to support global onboarding and growth.
🚀 Additional Committees
Across the Discord, you will also find active discussions running under the Product Committee, Parameters Sub-Committee, Core Governance Tools, and the Intersect Steering Committee.
There is a place for everyone. Find the committee that fits your skills, and dive into their active Working Groups!
Your Action Plan: How to Start Today
Don't wait for an invitation. Take these exact steps right now:
- Join Intersect first (if you aren't a member) to unlock access to the Discord channels.
- Hop into the Discord and locate the Committee category that matches your passion.
- Introduce yourself in the chat. Tell us what you're working on and what you want to learn.
- Join a Working Group call. Just listen the first time if you want.
- Pick a small task and follow through.
The Opportunity
This is your chance to build your public profile, collaborate with global experts, and potentially unlock roles, grants, and partnerships.
The Cardano ecosystem is built by those who show up. Will you?
